| Tortillas
y Cancioncitas
by Lynn Reiser (Greenwillow Press. William and Morrow,
1998. Review)
This
beautiful book contains a set of four stories in which
a little girl describes how what her grandmother and
her mother did are similar and different from what she
does. With one phrase per page, in Spanish and English,
the book is excellent for elementary age children from
kindergarten through fifth grade. The last story is
followed by a lullaby with the written music. Extraordinary
folk-art paintings by "Corazones Valientes",
an organization of Costa Rican women artists, accompany
all four stories. This is a book that the children will
return to over and over. |
